Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped herbs.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Gently mix until just combined to form a shaggy dough.
Shaping
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
- Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Use a sharp knife to score a shallow 'X' on the top of the loaf.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let cool slightly before slicing.
