  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour Standard flour for banana bread.
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Or mix with dark chocolate for rich flavor.
Optional Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Such as walnuts or pecans.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For added warmth in flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mash the overripe bananas in a large bowl until smooth or with small lumps, as desired.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix melted butter with brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mixing and Baking
  1. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  2. Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts or spices if using).
  3. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  4. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Cooling
  1. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a moister loaf, consider adding buttermilk or yogurt. Experiment with different types of chocolate or toppings for variety.
