Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Cold butter Cut into small cubes and kept cold.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter to the dry ingredients and rub in until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold milk or cream and stir gently until just combined.
Shaping
  1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick disc.
  2. Cut out scones using a straight-cut biscuit cutter, pressing straight down and lifting straight up without twisting.
Baking
  1. Place scones on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Always ensure the ingredients are cold to maintain ideal texture. For an enticing tea pairing, serve with Earl Grey or English Breakfast tea.
