Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well blended.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. If using, fold in chocolate chips or chunks.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  2. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until the edges look set but the center is still soft. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs.
Serving
  1. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
  2. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel.

Notes

Allow brownies to cool for at least 2-3 hours before cutting to achieve ideal texture. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for longer storage. For added flair, experiment with variations by incorporating nuts or swirls of other flavors.
