Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour Can use bread flour for a chewier texture.
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast Make sure yeast is fresh.
  • 1 cup Warm water Temperature should be between 100°F - 110°F.
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Helps activate the yeast.
  • 2 tsp Salt Important for flavor and dough structure.
Herbs and Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp Dried basil
  • 1 tbsp Dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp Dried parsley Optional for added flavor.
  • 1/2 tbsp Dried marjoram Optional for added flavor.
Cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese For melty texture.
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
Finishing Touches
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil For brushing on top before baking.
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced Optional, for added flavor.

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Slowly add warm water and olive oil, mixing until combined.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes by hand, or 5-7 minutes using a stand mixer until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth.
  2. Let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, about 1-1.5 hours.
Adding Flavor
  1. After the first rise, punch down the dough and knead in the dried herbs and shredded cheeses until evenly distributed.
Shaping and Second Rise
  1. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
  2. Let it rest for another 30-45 minutes for the second rise.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375-400°F (190-200°C) with a baking stone or sheet inside.
  2. Bake the bread for 25-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Cooling
  1. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for at least 20-30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Creative variations include adding sun-dried tomatoes, olives, or different cheeses. Best enjoyed warm, with dips or as a sandwich base.
