Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For the cake base.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar To sweeten the cake.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder For leavening.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For the chocolate swirl.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Must be at room temperature.
  • 3 large eggs Should be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup milk Adds moisture.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract For flavor.
For the Chocolate Swirl
  • 2 tablespoons hot water To dissolve cocoa powder into a smooth paste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder) until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients alternately with the milk, mixing just until combined.
Creating the Marble Effect
  1. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  2. Using a butter knife or skewer, gently swirl the batters together in a zig-zag motion, being careful not to overmix.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added variation, try drizzling a simple vanilla glaze or chocolate ganache on top before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for a richer dessert.
