Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder) until well combined.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients alternately with the milk, mixing just until combined.
Creating the Marble Effect
- Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Using a butter knife or skewer, gently swirl the batters together in a zig-zag motion, being careful not to overmix.
Baking
- Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For added variation, try drizzling a simple vanilla glaze or chocolate ganache on top before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for a richer dessert.
