Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk.
  4. Gently mix until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
Baking
  1. Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Using a sharp knife, score a deep cross on the top of the loaf.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the loaf is golden brown.
  4. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Enjoy fresh with butter or as a side with soups and stews. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
