Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk.
- Gently mix until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
Baking
- Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Using a sharp knife, score a deep cross on the top of the loaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the loaf is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
Enjoy fresh with butter or as a side with soups and stews. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
